
29th April 2006 Update:
UN Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery, former President Clinton, has invited tsunami affected Governments, Donors, NGOs and UN representatives to 4th Global Consortium on Tsunami Recovery on April 28.
New York - In the second year after the December 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and Tsunami, affected governments continue to address humanitarian issues in their countries. They are also forging ahead with very challenging, long term rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in their countries.

29th April 2006 Maldives update:
Although still affected by the distruction and tragedy of the December 04 Tsunami, Maldives was mercifully not as seriously affected as unfortunate countries such as Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia. That said, around 120 deaths still occured throughout the Maldives as a direct result of the disaster.
