Description: Working in a joint venture as the lead Project Design Director for Sri Lankan developers Airport Express Air & Rail Company Pvt Ltd (company name since changed to High Speed Railway Corporation Pvt Ltd).  Atoll worked with HSRC to prepare an outline feasibility and business plan for two private 150 acre garden city / new towns or ‘Integrated Urban Townships’ at Bopitiya and Kerawalapitiya in Sri Lanka. Both projects were speculative and linked to HSRC’s equally speculative new high speed Maglev train propsed between Katunanayake airport and capital Colombo. Design architects engaged by Atoll to collaborate were Altrincham-based Calder Peel FGP. The total project costs for the mixed developments (excluding the high speed rail link element) was anticipated to be in the region of $USD 700 million. For their part, Calder Peel helped Atoll developed a masterplan feasibility of just the Bopitiya township for HSRC to begin with. This initial feasibility prepared in conjunction with Atoll created in April 2015 can be viewed below. Major funding and partners are now being sought by HSRC.
