Description: Working initially as client project manager working with appointed Sri Lankan architects Pheroze Choksy and Ismeth Raheem, and later as the sole island-based lead architect, Ian Banks lived and worked in Maldives for 2 years from 1990. Here he helped oversee demolitions of Rannalhi, a first generation Maldives island resort in North Male atoll, and then helped facilitate a first phase redesign and construction of an upgraded new resort. Ian worked for 2 years for Maldivian resort owner Jetan Travel Service after his marriage. His work on this first phase delivered projects which included all the land-based hotel and service accommodation. Ian returned to live and work in the UK in 1992 following the birth of his daughter.
