Ian Banks FRSA has been an appointed Fellow of The RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) since November 2012. The RSA Fellowship is a network of people from a wide range of backgrounds, united by a desire to build a better society.

The RSA’s stated mission is to enrich society through ideas and action, and the organisation has been at the forefront of this social change for 260 years. It’s Fellows form a global network of 29,000 people who share the same values: “Fellows have access to the brightest new ideas, innovative projects, a diverse network of like-minded people and a platform for social change”.
