Description: Following on from the earlier phase of Shine artist-in-school residencies, Ian Banks prepared the commissioning strategy for Artistcall linked to the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme in Blackburn with Darwen – this time for 6 further schools.
The commission curated for Tauheedul Islam Girls High School (TIGHS) involved shortlisting a range of visual artists and using a school panel to select from. Following novation from the Head Teacher Islamic street / grafitti artist Mohammed Ali aka Aerosol Arabic was ultimately selected. His work, created following student workshops, resulted in a series of wall panels and a long wall mural to the school hall being created.
