Description: Following on from the earlier phase of Shine artist-in-school residencies, Ian Banks prepared the commissioning strategy for Artistcall linked to the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme in Blackburn with Darwen – this time for 6 further schools.
The commission curated for Witton Park Academy followed-on from a separate Shine commission and involved shortlisting a range of visual artists and using a school panel to select from. As such, community artist David Boultbee of BREAD Art Collective was ultimately selected. His work, created following school workshops, resulted in 3D-printed architectural-inspired installations that were erected within the school woth the help of students.
